How to pick a mode

If you have never played before, start with Classic — it is the format everything else builds on. Teams is the better choice once you get past about six people, because both halves of the group draw and guess at the same time instead of waiting their turn. Battle Royale needs at least six players and works best with a group that already knows the rules, since being knocked out early is only fun when you understand what went wrong. And Free Draw is the one to open when nobody wants a timer at all.
